I don't think it does, simply that he may no longer qualify for membership in the Manitoba federation. If the Alberta chapter refuses to recognize his credentials, then of course he has a valid grievance.

I hold a Manitoba birth certificate but I no longer expect to qualify for provincial benefits from Manitoba as I no longer reside in the province, and am entitled to benefits in the province of current residence..

But I think what Darcey's saying is that Métis citizenship shouldn't have an expiry date.

My understanding is that it's an issue of current residence and not place of birth, status within the Manitoba "metis nation" per se, and that while Darcey may be dropped from the roster of the Manitoba Metis Federation, he could pursue membership with the Alberta chapter if currently and for an extended period a resident of Alberta...

I think the Manitoba chapter may have a point id Darcey no longer has a fixed permanent address in Manitoba, has exchanged Manitoba driver's license, health insurance for Alberta benefits...

That's quite a tale! I guess Darcey's person non grata because he left Manitoba and made something of himself instead of staying home and being a "victim".

Coming back to work for a guy who intends to make radical changes in the MMF if he's a successful candidate probably doesn't help much either.

Thanks for posting this Adrian,I was wondering where Darcey 's been lately.

My home town's about 80 miles from his in Manitoba. It's a good place to be from.
