Speaking truth to power

An honest man talking to the real thing:

The cable also reveals how CSIS feels about Canadian attitudes. Former CSIS director Jim Judd went so far as to complain that judicial rulings and public naiveté were paralyzing his spies – specifically lamenting that Canadians were prone to “knee-jerk anti-Americanism” and “paroxysms of moral outrage.”..

The report was written in the summer of 2008, as Mr. Judd sat down with Eliot Cohen, a U.S. State Department official. The Bush administration appointee’s entourage took notes…

Mr Judd was of course right on target about many Canadians’ attitudes:

1) The US:

Raging anti-Americanism, or, the Canadian mental disorder/Inferiority complex Update

2) Moral outrage (selective, not honest):

Corruption? What stinking corruption? Part 2

I referred in 2006 at Daimnation! to “delusional Canadians, reeking of our moral self-importance”. Indeed. Far to many of us still want to be

Boy scout of the world

That remains an urge that will not be stilled, regardless of reality (maybe the urge needs a cross, garlic and silver bullet):

Why the Globe and Mail is not a newspaper, Part 2 (Congo section)

I wrote a comment last winter chosen as the feature article on the letters page of the Panama City News Herald. The comment was in response to an “over the top” article by an Ohio Senator’s wife regarding the Canada Health System.
The comments presented in my letter (400 words) were the Canadian system was not perfect as the Democratic Senator’s wife presented. The reactions to my comments with subsequent letters from other Canadian Snowbirds ranged from questioning my national loyalty; to my integrity; to my sanity, nothing substantive to refute my comments, just rhetoric.
An accompanying blog for the letters section provided 16 pages of comments; 90% Canadian (approximately 7 responders/page. There were two Canadian responses who supported my effort in trying to bring understanding to the issue. Roughly 30% of the American’s responses were supportive.
c’est la vie en Amerique du Nord; Cheers

MikeSr, socialists have deep roots in Canada and it has been profitable for them here.

Good post & your right on about the American bashing. Ive never understood it. We have been blessed to live by folks not to different than ourselves, who defends us.
Allowing an insane health care system to begin with.
Time I figure America cut the bib from canucks.
Time we as Canadians stood up for something real like free speech, instead of Marxist insanities frothing in the EAST. The submission to a Religion of death. Socialism is the opium of the masses.
    The reverse of their dogma.
Trudeau created a Nation of freeloaders by transfer payments. French forced government. Socialized every organ of the Country. Put Canadians on the outside while the Bureaucracy & Political Elite built empires taking responsibility away from adults. Even charity is now an act of parliament!!!
Heath care is just a symptom of a political disease that has neutered individual accountability to collective unaccountability. So more can be stolen. right now, laying waste better Nations than us.
‘Destroyed the moral underpinnings. Than allowed an invasion of not immigrants but Death Religion warrior Colinizers in for votes. In the early 60s a hand full of politico’s decided that they would steal the Nation blind enough for Just Their Lifetimes. To hell with the future generations. They would be dead anyway.
    This is the result.

Jim Judd was an excellent diplomat and executive. I knew him well and he was very well-informed and has excellent judgement.

But the Canadian left are doing what they always do and that is aping everything they see the American left do and say.

No one beats the American Leftists for being Anti-American!

Go ahead and ask yourself, if some American leftard like Al Gore, Michael Moore or any one of the Hollywood freaks commanded the Canadian leftist chimps to destroy the Canadian economy through one policy or another, do you really think they wouldn’t obey?

And what about the multitudes of leftist Toronto media collaborators? No one is ever going to mistake them for trend setters now are they; a herd of tag-a-longs is more like it. The NY Times is their ideological advisor.

The point is that the Canadian left and the Toronto media are nothing more than wholly controlled subsidiaries of the American leftists.

This is why they always accuse Conservatives of following the American right, it’s because they themselves are such blatant stooges that they need to blame others of what they are especially guilty of. This is done to deflect the truth away from themselves. They use this sleigh of hand all the time, like when they accuse others of being racist, sexist, and corrupt or a liar.

Like they say: “Ain’t no bigot like a Leftist bigot”.

Very good point. Our lefties can’t even be original. No wonder there is that inferiority complex.

One amusing thing: in the Commons’s Question Period every once in a while, when it suits their agendas, the Liberals and NDP demand that the government do something the US is going–whilst otherwise almost always bashing the Americans.
