The French won’t change the lyrics…

…if they’re banning these:

In Tuesday’s vote at the National Assembly, there were 335 votes for the bill and just one against it…

The lyrics (and the tune, always chokes me up).  And here’s something you will not see in Ottawa on our national day–earlier.

Finally, the French are making sense.

Their anthem is amazing and catching isn’t it. I learned to sing the short version years ago in high school French classes. I still remember the words even though it was way back in the fifties. The other students clearly enjoyed singing it.

Much too bloody for Canadian tastes!

Great tune, but the words might offend some.

    To arms, citizens,
    Form your battalions,
    Let’s march, let’s march!
    May an impure blood
    Water our furrows!

    Canadian rewrite: Open your arms,citizens
    Form your social networks
    Let’s march, let’s march
    For social justice
    For multiculturalism and diversity

There, now I’ve de-militarized that nasty French song, I’ll have to work on that war mongering American anthem that actually mentions BOMBS!

    Can you imagine!

I’d like to teach the world to sing…………;-)
