The constitutional change is never going to happen. It's a can of worms that should not be opened. Moreover an eleventh province is manifestly NOT in the interests of people outside Ontario.

I have always advocated the elimination of municipalities, the most vile and corrupt politicians are at the municipal level.
None draw up a budget until Toronto give these petulant children there hand outs.

Peter,

I'm fairly certain that the money that leaves Toronto isn't going to the Northern communities in Ontario. It's going to the maritimes, Quebec, or other areas of the country. So I doubt that rural Ontario would suffer greatly from their own taxation system.

If Toronto sends $11 billion more to Ottawa and Ontario than it receives back, will the rural areas be prepared for the shortfall?
This issue cuts boths ways. If it is done, it should be done to address political realities and not economics because Toronto will come out way ahead on the financial curve in the end.
My guess is the rural population won't appreciate the economic consequences, but might go for it if it represents more political autonomy for their communities.
It's a Catch 22 situation at best.

I'll bet you it wouldn't be long before the province of Toronto was the largest in the country, lol.
